Case Studies

NDC has delivered many projects below are some case studies detailing the work involved and lessons learnt.

Building Communities

Communications Project; The project ensured local residents were aware of NDC projects and events, allay resident's fears and inform local businesses and partner organisations.

Community Chest: The project provided financial support to community groups, voluntary organisations and residents groups to carry out projects they wouldn't be able to undertake on their own.

Learning and Development: The project provided support for the delivery of NDC projects through maximising the capacity of local residents and NDC staff.


Business Employment and Skills

Successful Transitions: The project provided local residents claiming income support benefit or incapacity benefit with a fresh start and helped to develop confidence and skills and develop social networks.

Skills For Life: The project provided a range of training such literacy, numeracy, IT as well as English for speakers of other languages.

Education, Children and Young People

Supporting Schools: The project provided additional support for schools serving students in the NDC area.

Young Volunteers: The project provided 14 - 16 years olds in the NDC area with opportunities to participate in volunteering activities in the community.

Youth Participation: The project ensured new activities were developed to meet young peoples needs and ensure NDC structures maximise the involvement of young people.

Community Safety

Alley gating: The project provided a series of alley gating and community led environmental improvements to help reduce crime and improve community safety.

Burglary reduction: The project provided free security producta and burglary reduction advice to residents.

Crime prevention: The project provided funds to meet the needs of the local community to address crime related issues. 

GEARS+ : The project provided opportunities to develop personal social and practical skills through informal learning.

High Profile Policing: The project provided an additional Police Officer and Police Community Support Officers in the are and help detect and deter crime and reduce the fear of crime.

Health

Enhanced Maternity Services: The project provided enhanced midwifery services targeting the needs of women in the NDC area to support physical, social and psychological needs.

ME 2: The project provided preventative support to school aged children of substance misusing parents through play and therapeutic support.


Physical and Environmental

Matlock Cross: The project was an environmental improvement scheme covering 58 properties designed to increase street safety and to reduce the potential for vehicle crime.

Minor Works: The project provided funds to implement small improvements in response to specific problems identified by the local community.

Riverbank Park: The project involved working with the local community to create a communal green space for sport, recreation, community events and a play area.

Shop Parade Improvements: The project provided external environmental improvements to shop parades to improve the image of the parades and bring empty properties back in to use.

Sports Village: The project involved working with a range of partners to develop a state of the art facility providing sporting and training opportunities.
