Activities Grant

The Activities Grant was funding for, local groups working with Children and Young People could access. The funding paid for trips out, entertainers, running costs, workshops, new equipment plus lots more.

Decisions on the grants were made by a panel of children, young people and adults who designed an application form, set the guidelines and received training on decision making, approving funding, chairing skills, working as a team and dealing with conflict between panel members.

Over the last 3 years £142,370 has been approved to local groups, the funding has benefited over 3000 children. Without the voluntary and community groups working with children and young people, applying for grants and running activities none of this would have happened.

Groups that have benefited from the funding are:

Albion Residents Group
Amber Project
Big Steps Playgroup
Broughton Anglers Junior
Charlestown & Lower Kersal Breastmates
Duchy Youth Project
Kersal Families Club
Little Einstein's Parent & Toddler Group
Lower Kersal Young Peoples Group
Little Steps Parent & Toddler Group
Oliver's Gym
Oliver's Youth Club
Salford Swim Stars
St Georges Residents Association
Space Cadets
Solitaires Morris Dancing Troupe
START in Salford
St Thomas's Church Holiday Club
Strawberry Road Residents Association
WOW Group

Yogurt Pots

A big thank you also goes to the Activities Grants Panel which is a group of young people and adults who have volunteered on a regular basis, attending training sessions and meeting regularly to approve the funding groups received.

The funding has now come to an end and the project finishes March 2010, several meetings are going ahead with East Salford Neighbourhood Management Team and NDC to ensure groups know where to get funds from and who can support them in the future.

Two meetings have been arranged one in Kersal and one in Charlestown to co-ordinate activities and explore future funding and support for groups.

The Kersal meeting will be on Wednesday 11th November, 10 - 12 noon at the Sports Village.
The Charlestown meeting will be Thursday 19th November time to be confirmed, at the Beacon Centre
