Block Improvements

In January 2003 NDC started a programme of “Block Improvement Schemes” These schemes were developed through forums such as, The Physical and Environment Task Group, The Housing Sub-Group, local residents' associations and Neighbourhood Planning events. The schemes have been funded through NDC’s Capital Programme and the Manchester Salford Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder. |

The aim behind undertaking block improvement work is to carry out selective improvements and refurbishments to support the housing market within the area. The objectives are as follows:
• To provide certainty regarding the future of the properties and encourage owner investment in their own homes;
• To stabilise and revive the local housing market;
• To improve the fabric of property that may have been neglected;
• To reduce maintenance obligations in the short-medium term until owner confidence and the housing market improves;
• To create attractive neighbourhoods where people, both existing residents and newcomers, would choose to live.
We have improved over 1000.homes through Block Improvements
