Community Facility Support

This project will continue the work already started by Pulse Regeneration to support community facilities across the NDC area. By continuing to work with community facilities in the NDC area now, it is hoped that strong, sustainable, fit for purpose facilities will remain in the area. The facilities will offer opportunities for local people in their delivery of services, their ability to be accessed locally, as well as providing employment and volunteers in the area.
Central to the NDC vision for community facilities is an increase in quality. Quality in relation to community facilities is a multifaceted concept, which represents far more than a sparkly building such as:
- A high quality physical building fit for purpose
- Located to best serve that community
- Creating a sense of community ownership (a positive symbol, a flagship, a meeting point)
- Available for the whole community and it's subsections (young people, older people, BME groups)
- Providing a variety of quality activities (according to the needs and demands of the community)
- Equipped with effective, responsive and flexible management (ensuring evening use, with clear booking and charging procedures, and is affordable for use by the local community)
- Is economical (essentially that the costs to maintain the building are justified against the benefits to the community it serves)
You can learn more about this by downloading the Community Facilities Strategic Action Plan.
