Gemini Visit to Mayors Chambers
The Gemini Group for the over 50’s were invited to the Mayors Chambers at the Town Hall in May 2009. They enjoyed a civic history lesson from Frank Reid the Mayors Attendant about the role of the Mayor, chains of office, the 3 maces of Salford and a tour of the Council Chambers.
Mildred Avery said “it was a fantastic day, and I would recommend for any groups to book a visit with Frank to hear the Civic History of Salford.”
Stella Elliott said “the Mayor has visited the Gemini group on a few occasions over the last year, and we feel Mayors office do a great job. To hear about the history of the role of Mayor and the many organisations she is a member of was amazing”.
Barbara Tennant the Chair of the group said “this was a wonderful opportunity for the group to get the feel of what the Mayor does on a day to day basis, and to hear Frank who has 30 years experience in his job, and who made the visit very interesting. We will certainly be booking to visit Frank again in the near future to hear more. “
Caroline Allport the Community Development Worker for New Deal for Communities said “the group had a great time, and I feel anyone who has an interest in civic history should arrange a visit, this can be arranged through Elaine Watts Tel: 0161 793 3059.”
