Grow It, Cook it, Eat It

skye planting

Ever fancied growing your own fruit and vegetables or brushing up on your cookery skills?

There are lots of free workshops, courses and even grants to help you get started.

‘Grow, Cook and Eat’ is an exciting new project, funded by Charlestown and Lower Kersal NDC and run by Groundwork.

The project aims to improve access to fruit and vegetables by helping residents plant and grow their own produce, particularly in gated alleyways but also in gardens and around community venues.

Grow it!

There are growing workshops to help you set up an alleyway allotment or grow food in your garden. These sessions are suitable for complete beginners or those who want to learn new techniques.

Later in the year there will be workshops for those wanting to learn how to ‘build your own planters’

Cook it!

In the Autumn this year  there will be introductory cookery courses so you can learn new skills or recipes to make affordable and healthy meals for you or your family. You can also help create a local cookbook by sharing your favourite recipes or taking part in the photography workshops.

Eat it!

Best of all you get to eat whatever you grow or cook!
