In Bloom

History

Charlestown and Lower Kersal In Bloom was launched in January 2004. It was set up by New Deal Officers and a small group of residents. Its main aim was to improve the visual appearance of the New Deal Area, and to increase community spirit, through people working together to help achieve this.

Since the group started out in January 2004, Barrier Baskets, Lamppost baskets and 3 tier planters have been placed in the area,
Residents within the alleyways are now working together to improve their area with plants etc.

Two local schools have also benefitted from the project; St Georges Primary School and Lower Kersal are aiming to become eco schools,
In July 2009 Lower Kersal Primary school won the sliver award from the company Caterpillar, the school is now awaiting results from the North West In Bloom awards.
