Community Chest
Community Chest is a way of increasing and enhancing community activity, and promoting and supporting local groups by offering access to small grants for local projects.
Groups can access up to £1,000 per year for things such as painting, paving, electrical work, purchasing appliances or equipment, or for help with setting up groups. There is also a Community Chest Start Up Grant for community & residents' groups. The groups need to have been running for less than 1 year to gain £100 funding from New Deal for Communities.
Application forms for Community Chest can be obtained from the Admin Team on 0161 607 8505, or by e-mailing ndc.enquiries@salford.gov.uk, alternatively you can download the forms from the links below.

What's been done before?
- Bring local people together to deliver a project; supporting the increase of volunteers within the NDC area.
- Build the capacity of local residents to make decisions on grant applications based on agreed criteria.
- Build the capacity of groups to manage funding and deliver on a project within an allocated budget. Support for this has been provided by the community team and also through learning opportunities through the learning and development project.
- Deliver small funded projects, with support, enabling groups to feel more confident about looking for alternative funding opportunities. Groups will be supported to seek advice from organisations such as CVS and the Neighbourhood Management Team for further funding support.

The panel
A special thank you goes to the panel, who have given their time to make the decisions on how the funding is allocated. The panel is made up of local residents who have previously received funding through the project. If your group has received a Community Chest award and you would like to be part of the panel, please contact Bernadette on 0161 607 8533 for further information on how to get involved.
