Comunity Training Project

A limited amount of funding is now available for individuals and community groups to access training opportunities that will help to develop community groups and volunteers in the NDC area.

Are you involved with a community group, NDC Task Group or NDC project? Would you or your group benefit from some training or new skills? If yes to any of these questions, the Community Training Project could be what you’re looking for.

Who & what can be funded?
Individuals – to access short courses such as treasurer’s skills, management committee skills, minute taking, chairing meetings, partnership working, community involvement in regeneration.

Community Groups – to access trainers/facilitators to help your group with action planning, understanding regeneration issues, planning meetings, community involvement and fundraising

In addition, participation costs are available to ensure you are fully able to attend any community training, such as childcare cost, carer’s costs and transport

Who & what can't be funded?
As a general rule, the following won’t be funded as part of the Community Training project:

  • Full time further education/higher education courses
  • Vocational training
  • Professional fundraisers
  • Individuals not involved with a community group, NDC Task Group or NDC Project
  • Training that’s already funded by other bodies, such as Colleges, Jobshop Plus

There may be other ways of accessing the above. For further advice or information, please contact the Community Involvement Team on 0161 607-8533.

How to apply
Applying for the funding is the easy part! Just complete one of the attached application forms, attach details of the training that you/your group would like to access, and return the form in the attached envelope to:

Community Training Project, New Deal for Communities, Freepost, NAT 1596, Salford M6 9ZQ.

A small panel will meet to decide upon all applications, and you will be informed of their decision within five working days after the panel has met.

What's the catch?
There is none! All we ask is that you/your group agree to provide some feedback once you’ve completed the training to let us know how you’ve benefited from it (usually a short one-to-one session to complete a Community Training feedback/evaluation form).
