Skills for Life/ESOL Centre
The Skills for Life Centre opened at Lower Kersal Community and Activities Centre in May 2004 to help local people improve their basic skills.
The New Deal for Communities funded centre provides a service where people can simply drop in to get help and advice to improve their skills, such as English and Maths - skills that we all need to get by in the modern world.
There are also classes for English, Maths and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). The centre hopes to attract people from different communities who wish to learn English as well as helping those who already speak it to improve their skills.
Salford College is the project partner, and there will be tutors on hand to give one-to-one help during some sessions. The Skills for Life Centre Coordinator, Lesley Wheeldon, is on hand throughout the week to welcome anyone who wishes to use the facility. Lesley can be contacted on 0161 792 2046.
