Gears in action

On 1 August 2007 GEARS+ Ltd started business as a social enterprise. “This is an exciting time for GEARS+ Ltd and both the staff and the Board are ready for the challenges that are ahead” said Trish Bartlett, who was recently appointed as Chief Executive.

Since GEARS+ started to work from the Orchard Street premises in June 2005, over 500 young people have attended, many of them from the NDC area.  As a self funding organisation GEARS+ Ltd will use any surpluses created to continue to work with young people from the NDC area, offering a range of programmes that incorporate basic workshop skills.

Programmes run for between six weeks and a year and include:-

•  Metal Art
•  Building Karts
•  Cycle Maintenance
•  Youthbike
•  Jewellery Making

GEARS would like to encourage young people to help develop new programmes of activity and are keen to recruit a young person from the area onto the Board.
