Celebrations at GEARS+
On the 1 August GEARS+ celebrated their first anniversary as a social enterprise. To mark the occasion there was a packed day of activities and displays of the work that has been undertaken by young people who have been involved with GEARS+.
The event was supported by special guests Jamie Lomas and Anthony Quinlan, two Salford born actors who are currently staring in Hollyoaks and the Deputy Mayor of Salford Councillor Roger Lightup
“We are really pleased with the level of positive support we have received from all our V.I.P. guests, especially Councillor Lightup who is coming back to try his hand in the workshop” said Trish Bartlett Chief Executive of GEARS+.
Other events that have taken place during the summer period include an hour long programme where Trish Bartlett was interviewed by Jim King on Salford City Radio, the co-ordination and support of Olivers Youth Club for their successful Manchester to Blackpool Cycle Ride and a two week programme of summer activities that included mountain biking, climbing, karting, the driving simulator and workshop skills.
