High Profile Policing

Launched in October 2001, this initiative has allowed a more focused approach to be undertaken, which has included high profile targeting of high crime areas, rather than a more high profile ‘blanket’ approach, and more undercover operations. There has been numerous ‘zone’ operations, particularly in relation to vehicle misuse and anti-social behaviour. Please also see the Crime & Community Safety Team.

Help us to help you.  We need as much information about crime, criminals and the problems you are facing in the Charlestown & Lower Kersal area.  You can do this by calling 0161 856 5127 or 5128 and speaking confidently to the NDC police officers.

If you require a police response or wish to report an incident, you must telephone the GMP switchboard on 0161 872 5050. To report anti-social behaviour of any kind, call 0161 909 6544 in Salford or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

CCTV Cameras
There is currently a network of 12 CCTV cameras operating within the NDC area. The cameras operate 24hrs/365 days a year and are placed at strategic locations within the area. They have the strong support of the local community and the police.
