Masterplanning and redevelopment
Please note that there have been important changes to the plans to redevelop the Lower Kersal Riverside site, which means that most residents in that particular area will no longer be affected by the redevelopment plans. Click here for more information.
An intensive Masterplanning process is now underway to help plan the new development in Charlestown Riverside. This is an opportunity to work with the design team and the developer to help create a flourishing new community on this dramatic riverside sites. We want to make sure that the whole community has the chance to contribute their views in the way that they feel most comfortable, whether it is through a workshop, questionnaire, or a one to one discussion, we want everyone to get involved. We have already run a programme of events where residents gained skills in understanding design, and the confidence to work with architect and planners.
Over 150 people turned out to an Exhibition on the 3rd October 2007 at St Sebastian's Community Centre,to look at the emerging options for the Charlestown Riverside site.Take a look at the emerging Charlestown Masterplan options (Adobe Acrobat, File size 4.12 megabytes) and let us have your views.
The People's Panel has now considered the Masterplan proposals in detail before a Planning Application is submitted in Summer 2008. The panel consisted of local residents, and the developer will report back to the community at a further exhibition before submission of the planning application.
