How your Midwifery Assistant can help
The Midwifery Assistant is a part of the Midwifery Team and is able to offer extra time, advice and support to new parents on behalf of the Midwives.
Things that she can help you with include:-
- Support with breast feeding
- Helping you to stop smoking
- Giving you the skills to survive the first few days of parenthood
She can also support your learning of:-
- How to bath your baby
- Hygiene and your new baby
- Keeping your baby safe
She can also help with the fun stuff with your baby that makes the hard work worthwhile!
- Getting to know your baby
- Baby’s growth and development
- Cuddles and smiles
- Baby massage
The Midwifery Assistant can also make referrals to other agencies on your behalf and help and support your access to other groups and services in the New Deal for Communities area.
