SMART is Salford’s young peoples’ drug and alcohol, support service for under 21’s.

Since 2005 Salford SMART has worked with NDC providing early intervention and prevention work in the area. This work involves:-

•  Group work
•  Drop ins
•  Community events
•  Drugs and alcohol awareness training
•  Young people participation, including peer education

After extensive consultation and evaluation funding for the project has been extended until 2010.

The focus of this work will be around earlier intervention and prevention and will concentrate on supporting primary school aged children of substance using parents. This will be done through specialist group work and will also provide a valuable signposting service for young people and their families.
