"Making Charlestown & Lower Kersal a place where people want to live, by building a community and future that engages everyone."

Welcome to our website for all you need to know about regeneration in Charlestown & Lower Kersal.

There are pages on projects and activities, and an interactive map which you can click on to find out more about each neighbourhood within the New Deal for Communities (NDC) area.

See What are we doing? for an update on NDC's projects and activities like the latest news on the planning application for the Charlestown Riverside Masterplan. Can't find what you want? Try the 'search' facility at the top of the page.

As part of our evaluation framework, we think it is important that the lessons from NDC are learned as we prepare for the end of the programme in 2011. See the How are we doing? page for more information.

So what is NDC all about?
In 2001, the area was awarded £53m to spend on improvements over a ten-year period from 2001 to 2011. The work of the NDC Partnership Board and team fits within six broad themes:

Building Communities
Crime & Community Safety
Children, Young People & Education
Physical Environment
Health
Business, Employment & Skills

Visit Who are we? for more background on the programme and the partners involved.
